Basic Concepts

Indigo Scape Internet Management System is a client based Internet Console Application with Server based network management. Indigo Scape features sophisticated Internet Filtering, Content Control, Acceptable Use Policies and Reporting allowing you to Monitor, Control and Restrict Access to all resources on the Internet.

The Internet Console is the central point of access to all resources on the Internet. Administrators have complete control over what Users can do and restrictions can be placed on Websites and Website Content on a per User basis. The Domains / URL's Users are allowed to Access from the Indigo Scape Browser and what level of Access is required to view them can be setup through Approved and Banned Websites. Content Filters can also be applied to block content based on selective or custom filtering.

Internet Management System

The Security Database and Schema for Indigo Scape contains information on Users, Approved Websites, Banned Websites and Website Activity. The Security Data Files must be on an NTFS compatible File Server with Permissions set for Read and Write Access.

Secure Internet Console

Indigo Scape features a Secure Console for accessing Internet resources and is the central point of access for all Users. The Console features shortcuts to the Indigo Scape Browser, Users Approved Websites and Downloads. The Indigo Scape Internet Console delivers a better User Interface than a Browser alone creating a more interactive experience in a secure environment.

User and Group Settings

User information and setup contains a large number of sophisticated and complex security settings to control access to resources on the Internet.

Security policies can be setup for each User to either restrict access to just the list of Approved Websites or filter and block Banned Websites. Content Filters can also block specific content with selective and custom filters.

Approved Websites List

The Approved Websites contains a list of Websites that are considered as Acceptable for use or viewing or Approved on the basis of their content.

Approved Websites can be applied to Users and options Enabled that add Shortcuts to the Approved Websites in the Internet Console and the User Websites list.

Banned Websites List

Banned Websites are a list of Websites that may be considered as harmful, illegal, offensive or detrimental for viewing. Access to Banned Websites can be blocked Globally or on a per User basis.

Content Filtering

Content Filtering allows Website content to be filtered and blocked. There are a number of inbuilt selective filters that can block content based on certain categories:-

  • Sex and Pornography Filter
  • Profanity Filter
  • Violence Filter

Customer Filters can also be applied to filter for specific keywords.

IP Filtering

IP Filtering can block access to Websites based on their IP Address. IP Filters can be applied to prevent access to specific networks, countries or Websites.

Acceptable Use Policies

Organizations can easily enforce policies for acceptable use of the Internet through Acceptable Usage Policies. Usage Policies can be applied to Users and Websites to control access and usage to various times of the day and/or on specific days. User accounts can also be locked out after violating a Usage Policy.

Your organization can comfortably control Internet Usage by enforcing Acceptable Use Policies.

Download Management and Disk Quotas

Download Management can restrict Internet Downloads to specific Users and Websites. File Types and Sizes can be also limited and Acceptable Use Policies enforced.

Disk Quota can be setup on a per User basis with an allocation of Disk space in a specified User Directory. This quota can be monitored and policies enforced if rules are broken or disk quota exceeded. Downloads from Websites can be forced to the User Directory and Administrators can keep track of Downloaded Files, File Types and Sizes.

Statistics and Reporting

Statistics and Reporting allows detailed reports and charts to be generated on all User activities on the Internet. Website hits and Downloads can be displayed in a meaningful format that can be printed or saved.

Reports and graphical charts give a detailed view showing ranking based on User or Website hits and Downloads. Administrators can monitor all Internet usage from the Internet Logs and view a snapshot of User activities with these advanced reporting features.
