Basic Concepts
|
Indigo Scape is a client based Internet Security
Console Application and Web Browser with Advanced
Network and Server Management. Indigo Scape features
sophisticated Internet Filtering, Content Control,
Acceptable Use Policies and Reporting allowing
you to Monitor, Control and Restrict Access to
all resources on the Internet.
The Internet Console is the central point of
access to all resources on the Internet. Administrators
have complete control over what Users can do and
restrictions can be placed on Websites and Website
Content on a per User basis. The Domains / URL's
Users are allowed to Access from the Indigo Scape
Browser and what level of Access is required to
view them can be setup through Approved and Banned
Websites. Content Filters can also be applied
to block content based on selective or custom
filtering.

Indigo Scape offers complete centralized network management
of all Internet resources. The Security Database and
Schema for Indigo Scape contains information on Users,
Approved Websites, Banned Websites and Website Activity.
Internet Access Control
Indigo Scape provides comprehensive security coverage
and Internet Access Control by letting you specify exactly
what Websites can be accessed, by whom and when. The
User is validated at Logon and has their own Internet
Console which is designed as a secure environment for
accessing all Internet resources and provides options
for a User based on Security settings defined by an
Administrator.
Indigo Scape allows you to set limits on Internet Access
and to time-wasting Web activities while still permitting
Users to reach the sites they need to conduct business.
With Indigo Scape you can completely block the Internet
for some Users or restrict access to only those Websites
which need to be accessed during working hours. You
can also control the Internet by blocking any Website
that you don't want anyone visiting.
Secure Internet Console
Indigo Scape features a Secure Console for accessing
Internet resources and is the central point of access
for all Users. The Console features shortcuts to the
Indigo Scape Browser, Users Approved Websites and Downloads.
The Indigo Scape Internet Console provides a rich User
Interface with an advanced Web Browser creating a more
interactive experience in a secure environment.
Users and Group Management
Users and Groups contain a large number of sophisticated
and complex security settings to control access to resources
on the Internet. Security policies can be setup to either
restrict access to just the list of Approved Websites
or filter and block Banned Websites. Content Filters
can also block specific content with selective and custom
filters.
Groups can be created that contain multiple Users,
Websites and other Security Objects. Security policies
and settings can be applied to both Users and Groups.
Group Management allows large Groups of Users and Websites
to be quickly managed.
Approved Websites List
The Approved Websites contains a list of Websites that
are considered as Acceptable for use or viewing or Approved
on the basis of their content.
Approved Websites can be applied to Users and options
Enabled that add Shortcuts to the Approved Websites
in the Internet Console and the User Websites list.
Banned Websites List
Banned Websites are a list of Websites that may be
considered as harmful, illegal, offensive or detrimental
for viewing. Access to Banned Websites can be blocked
Globally or on a per User basis.
Content Filtering
Content Filtering allows Website content to be filtered
and blocked. There are a number of inbuilt selective
filters that can block content based on certain categories:-
- Sex and Pornography Filter
- Profanity Filter
- Violence Filter
Customer Filters can also be applied to filter for
specific keywords.
IP Filtering
IP Filtering can block access to Websites based on
their IP Address. IP Filters can be applied to prevent
access to specific networks, countries or Websites.
Acceptable Use Policies
Organizations can easily enforce policies for acceptable
use of the Internet through Acceptable Usage Policies.
Usage Policies can be applied to Users and Websites
to control access and usage to various times of the
day and/or on specific days. User accounts can also
be locked out after violating a Usage Policy.
Your organization can comfortably control Internet
Usage by enforcing Acceptable Use Policies.
Download Management
and Disk Quotas
Download Management can restrict Internet Downloads
to specific Users and Websites. File Types and Sizes
can be also limited and Acceptable Use Policies enforced.
Disk Quota can be setup on a per User basis with an
allocation of Disk space in a specified User Directory.
This quota can be monitored and policies enforced if
rules are broken or disk quota exceeded. Downloads from
Websites can be forced to the User Directory and Administrators
can keep track of Downloaded Files, File Types and Sizes.
Statistics and Reporting
Statistics and Reporting allows detailed reports and
charts to be generated on all User activities on the
Internet. Website hits and Downloads can be displayed
in a meaningful format that can be printed or saved.
Reports and graphical charts give a detailed view
showing ranking based on User or Website hits and Downloads.
Administrators can monitor all Internet usage from the
Internet Logs and view a snapshot of User activities
with these advanced reporting features.
Session Management
Session Management allows remote monitoring and control
of User Sessions. The Session Management Console can
remotely Logout Users and view detailed information
about their current Session.
User Sessions can also be Remotely Accessed from
the Session Management Console.
Remote
Access
Enterprise versions of Indigo Scape feature full Remote
Access. The Remote Access Console allows you to view,
monitor and control a Remote Computers Desktop.
Administrators can remotely manage Networked Computers
and capture images of Remote Desktops for evidence in
case of Internet Misuse or violation. Captured images
can be saved, copied or emailed.

Process Monitoring
Processing Monitoring can be used to detect and Terminate
harmful or dangerous Programs running on a Computer
System such as Malware, Spyware, Adware or Viruses.
Process Monitors can also be used to stop certain Programs
running on a Computer such as chat Programs or games.
Acceptable Use Policies can also be applied to Process
Monitors to allow or block Programs from running at
certain times of the day and/or on specific days.

Network versions of Indigo Scape will respond to Security
Settings and Policies enforced by Indigo Scape Enterprise
although the Administration of these features is only
available in the Enterprise package.
